Photoinduced Electron Transfer between CdS and CdTe Nanoparticles in Colloidal Solutions

Photochemical behaviour of solutions containing a mixture of CdS and CdTe nanoparticles under pulse photoirradiation was studied. It has been shown that electron transfer from CdS to CdTe nanoparticles occurs at the photoexcitation of such systems. Efficiency of charge transfer increases at an increase in the size of CdTe nanoparticles. Such dependence is due to lowering of the potential of conduction band of CdTe at the increase in the diameter of nanoparticles as the manifestation of quantum-sized effects.
