Effect of Ion-Exchange and Impregnation Modification of X Zeolite
on the Catalytic Properties in Alkylation of Toluene with Methanol

The dependence of activity and selectivity of ion-exchanged X-type zeolite with incorporated caesium carbonate in side-chain alkylation of toluene with methanol on exchanged cation nature (Na+, Cs+, Mg2+, Zn2+) was established. It was shown that Mg2+- and Zn2+-exchanged NaX zeolites modified with Cs2CO3 are more favorable for ethylbenzene and styrene yield than alkali-exchanged ones.
