Photocatalytic Activity of Metal Sulfide Nanoparticles
in Destruction Reactions of Organic Dyes

The photocatalytic destruction of dyes in the presence of nanosized transition metal sulfides in aqueous solutions was investigated. The rate of destruction increased with decreasing the temperature of nanoparticle synthesis and with addition of ethanol. The substitution of Сd2+ cations in CdS on Ag+ or Cu2+ cations led to decrease of rate constant and substitution on In3+ resulted in increase of CdS photoactivity. The substitution of Ni2+ and Co2+ cations in the corresponding sulfides on Сd2+ was accom- panied by increasing of the destruction rate.
