on the Sensor Response of Poly(3-methylthiophene) Films

The influence of dopant nature on the response of sensor array based on poly(3-methylthiophene) films on the effect of vapours of different organic solvents was studied. The possibility both of increase and de- crease of polymer conductivity was established. It was assumed that the major factors which define the re- sponse value of poly(3-methylthiophene) are the ratio between charge carrier species (cation radical and dication) depending on anion-dopant nature and polarity of the analyte. It was shown that this polymer possesses high sensitivity towards chloroform vapour that makes poly(3-methylthiophene)-based sensor arrays selective with respect to this analyte.
